10 Tips to Stay Safe While Running Essential Errands During Covid-19

With the ongoing spread of the Corona Virus we may be a bit hesitant living our normal lives and doing our day-to-day responsibilities while minimizing the risk of contracting the virus. In this post I share with you some tips on how to stay safe while we are running our usual errands.

Tip #1 Go to the Grocery Store as early in the morning as possible. This way, you can avoid the crowd. If you are among those with higher risk for severe illness, or if you are pregnant, always find out if the place you are going to has special hours for people at higher risk, for elderly & pregnant women, and go during these hours.

Tip #2 Make a list of the essential things that you will need for a month so you don’t forget anything, doing this will help you stay on your budget as well. If you can, try to buy all that you will need for a month to avoid going out frequently.

Tip #3 Make it swift. If you have your list, then you can stick with it and make things quick. The longer you stay in an indoor space the more chance of exposure to the virus, particularly the Delta variant which they say is more infectious, more viral.

Tip #4 Keep in mind that anything you will touch inside the grocery store may be contaminated by the virus, so it’s important to keep your hands away from your face the entire time. Sanitize the grocery cart before you touch it, and avoid picking up unnecessary items.

Tip #5 KEEP DISTANCE AMIGOS! Stay at least 1 meter away from another person. Avoid unnecessary chatting with other people if possible, virus do not take a break, just finish the task at hand and leave. Social Distancing is a MUST!

Tip #6 In queuing at the cashier, make sure you stay atleast 6 feet away from the person infront of you. Request for boxes instead of plastic bags. This has nothing to do with the virus but if you do your little share in saving the environment, it well help all of us in the long run.

Tip #7 Get yourself those portable UVC Sterilization bags to help you disinfect your change/money, mobile phone, wallet, keys, faceshields, glasses, mask, jewelry and other small items, upon getting in your car.

Tip #8 Make sure when you bring home your grocery items, to disinfect everything first. You may opt to keep all the dry items inside the box for a few hours, til about a day before storing them in your pantry. For the vegetables and meat, make sure you wash them off before storing in the refrigerator.

Tip #9 After cleaning up everything, take a shower and make sure to sanitize properly, and put away your clothes.

Tip #10 If possible, in your transactions, use touchless payment. There are a lot of ways to pay your bills online now. If you must handle money, use hand sanitizer plus the UCV Sterilizer right after paying.

There you go. I hope these list somehow help. If you have any additional tips just let me know by commenting below. Thanks and be safe!

  1. Very useful information and a great list to keep in mind during these times. To go at nonpeak times and to make it swift with a list in hand has also been our top priority.

  2. That is a very big list of things to do. Isn’t it strange that there are so many people in the grocery store who ‘forget’ to keep their distance? Anyway, I get most of my groceries delivered to avoid the stress altogether.

    1. Omg! Some of my family members just got diagnosed positive of covid yesterday, just by doing essential errands, like me they were very careful too…. This is giving me too much anxiety now. How careful is careful nowadays? I am sure you were too, before you got it. Good thing you are well now. take care!

  3. These are really helpful tips. Going out nowadays is really scary especially the Delta variant present.

Bookmarking your post for future reference. I need to be reminded constantly of the do’s and don’t. Thank you for sharing this. Truly helpful.

  4. When the pandemic first started, we did a lot of grocery delivery and wiped down everything. But since it was determined that surfaces don’t spread it, I don’t worry about that anymore. Luckily, in Texas, things have been pretty much back to normal at stores, school, and daily life for a while now.

  5. We’ve been doing this for almost two years now. Hay. I just can’t wait to get back to normal soon and hope for the best.
