Philippines’ no.1 Children theater company REPERTORY has once again brought to its audiences a chance to catch a retelling of the timeless fairytale Beauty and the Beast, showing until December 14, 2017 at Onstage, Greenbelt 1.

As it celebrates its 25th year anniversary, REP’s staging of Beauty and the Beast which premiered last August 12, is this year’s spellbinding production directed by Repertory founder Joy Virata, with book written by Peter de Valle and John Ahearn, music by Michael Valenti, and lyrics by Elsa Rael.

What to look forward to in this Musical Play?

No, do not expect to see Lumier, Cogswart, Mrs.Potts and Chip or even Gaston, as this classic tale is told in a new way with a similar ending but a lot if exciting twist in between.

REP’s version of Beauty and the Beast is a tale of a loving father who wanders into an enchanted garden as he takes shelter from a storm. Having promised Beauty, the youngest of his three daughters, that he would bring her home a rose, he decides to pick one, unknowingly angering the Beast who owns the garden. As punishment, the Beast demands that Beauty live with him in his castle in exchange for her father’s freedom. Little does Beauty know that her captor is under a spell that can only be broken by true love. Eventually, Beauty and the Beast fell in love and  the spell was broken.

Cara Barredo, Alana Vincente, Jill Ita-as, and Maya Encila alternately plays the role of Beauty, while Arnel Carrion, Jos Jalbuena, Hans Eckstein, and George Schulze alternately portrays the Beast.

Find out about the twists that REP has beautifully incorporated in this timeless tale, and enjoy how they managed to compose an equally lively and entertaining musical scoring.
