5 Irresistibe Cakes to Consider for Your Media Noche… and Beyond

Before the year ends, as we all try to vow to “cut on our carbs, calories and sugar intake” and swear to “start a healthier regimen” or declare for the nth time that Come 2016 we will  “strictly be on a diet” let me try to tease you just this one time…

Below is an assortment of my favorite indulgent cakes that I have recently tasted and, well, actually loved  (in particular order, my top 5). Each variant is perfect not just for your family’s Media Noche but for any holiday get together or any occasion as well. They are all uberly good and delish, but I have my most favorite cake among these of course. Wanna verify my my verdict? Try and find out for yourselves.

Top 5: Slice Double Choco Yema

Dubbed as “Death by Choco Yema” this signature cake from Slice is a combo of that childhood sweet we have all grown to love- Yema  and some layers of super moist chocolate cake covered with sinful decadent chocolate ganache. The top frosting is made of what seems like a combination of confectionnaire sugar and condensed milk, it was a bit too sweet for me, but was just perfect for my sister. The moist core of the cake however was so densed that I loved it.

Php240 (small cake)

Slice Cakes are available at their Branches Located at Bonifacio High Streets Central BGC, Taguig and (Food Stall) SM Aura in Taguig.

Top 4: Ms. Polly’s Chocolate Cake

Chocolate-lovers will go ga-ga over this rich, super moist chocolate cake. Simply mouthwatering with just the chocolate butter frosting, this supposedly regular choco cake is transformed into a sensational holiday delight!

The cake has a light spongey texture. After eating a slice, you would surely crave for one more. The chocolate ganache has the right amount of sweetness. I personally enjoyed eating the ganache, and the sponge cake tasted a lot better days after, because it became more moist. It cost P490/box.

Top 3: Homemade Carrot Cake

Who wouldn’t go for a cake leveled “healthy” right? Carrot cakes will be the first to come to your mind but since there are too many choices theses days, consider this famous Homemade Carrot Cake from White Plains.

What I love most about this carrot cake is the creaminess of the icing, the cream cheese frosting is not too sweet to taste. It is also very generous with walnuts, you will appreciate your every bite of its very moist crumbs especially if you’re a vanilla and cinammon lover.

Whole cake with walnut cost Php450.

Top 4: Purple Oven’s  Choco Fudge Brownies

Of all the brownies I have tried in my whole life, I think this one tops the list. It has all the elements of a chewey-gooey-moist chocolate brownie that I could ask for, with the right chololatey creamy sweety blend. I swear I could finish this all up in one seating, and will most likely not share Haha!

Another one from Purple Oven… This is definitely not your ordinary Devil’s Food Cake! It is made of layers of moist chocolate cake with walnuts. It is frosted to perfection with torched marshmallow white icing, for a cake that is sure to wow everyone!

You’ll definitely go for this one as you see it on their cake display rack, it looks meticulously crafted (or torchd rather), and wait till you take a bite of this heavenly delightful masterpiece. All thumbs up for this one!

Php 630 for a whole cake.
